It’s not your typical trench coat…black, floor-length, the kind you imagine invading gunsmen wearing…no, this Spring’s hottest trend is a much more modern (and friendly) approach.

Stars are being spotted in sleek, knee-length coats in lightweight fabrics. Above, Jessica Biel rocks hers with black leggings and pumps, While Taylor swift prefers to go bare-legged with platinum peep-toe heels. Gwyneth Paltrow pairs ragged jeans and suede slouch boots with her trench coat.

Last night, history was made on the Miss USA stage. Miss Michigan Rima Fakih became the first Arab-American to be crowned Miss USA 2010.

She was gorgeous and absolutely flawless in every way, until the evening gown portion that is. Rima stumbled on stage as she got caught in the train of her gown. Nevertheless, judges saw past the mistake and crowned her Miss USA 2010!

Just weeks after a brain hemorrhage nearly put the Poison rocker on his death bed, Bret Michaels is scheduling gigs and returning to Celebrity Apprentice. He was released from the hospital two weeks ago, and it is nothing short of a miracle.

Doctors thought Michaels would never recover and here he is planning to return to live performances on May 28th. One of those performances is alongside Leonard Skynard in Florida on June 10th. When the hemorrhage occurred, Michaels was filming Celebrity Apprentice. He is expected to appear on the show’s finale May 23rd.

It is wonderful news that Bret Michaels has been given a second chance, a new breath of life. We can only hope that he will use that chance for something better than a bus filled with skanks, vying for his Rock of Love.

The entire nation is in an uproar over a dance competition video showcasing one troop’s provocative version of Beyonce’s Put A Ring On It. Five 7-year-old girls took the stage at a World Of Dance competition and the crowd went wild! A video of the dance made its way to YouTube and America went wild too.

But most of the commotion is negative. A lot of people are viewing the performance as child pornography and are questioning the motives of the parents involved. Some of those parents took to the camera this morning on Good Morning America to defend themselves and their daughters. They explained that this was performed at a dance competition, not just a video made for the world to view. One choreographer for the dance has even admitted that the costume choice should have been re-thought.

I have to agree, the costumes could have offered a bit more modesty…but this is a dance competition people! These little girls are clearly having fun and probably aren’t gonna make any attempts to seduce your little boy on the playground once this is all over. Beyonce’s song (and video) are uber-popular and have been mimicked over and over. The intention was not sexual, it is what you make of it. An Oklahoma 12-year-old blew audiences away at his school’s talent show back in April. Greyson Chance’s rendition of Lady GaGa’s hit, “Paparazzi”, became an instant YouTube sensation (over 8 million views already) and has earned him national recognition from The Early Show, and a spot on Ellen today.

Chance was flown to Los Angeles yesterday for the show’s taping. Check out the YouTube video, notice the two girls in the back when they realize what song he is performing!

Also hot for the season are vibrant colors like turquoise and hot pink, recently sported by Jessica Simpson and Ciara, respectively. Black and Navy are not just for Winter, these deep and dark tints are still hot for Summer and have been spotted on Whitney Port and Zoe Saldana.

Hope you didn’t forget your mom yesterday. Mother’s Day is a tradition dating back to the early 1600’s. England called it Mothering Sunday back then, and Christians used it as as a day to celebrate Mary, mother of Jesus. Over the years, the tradition evolved and the scope expanded to include all mothers.

The holiday really ramped up during WWI. President Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May a national holiday, Mother’s Day. And so the commercial holiday was born, giving florists and jewelers a reason to celebrate!

We should celebrate our Moms everyday, not just the second Sunday in May.

Didyou know that singer/actress Jessica Simpson recently announced that she only brushes her teeth three times a week? Gross. Apparently, the blond bombshell eggshell doesn’t like the way clean teeth feel in her mouth. I, along with the rest of America, beg to differ. I can’t stand the dirty feeling…don’t do this at home kids, brush your teeth at least twice a day.

Former Giants star Lawrence Taylor is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in a Holiday Inn. The 51-year-old was arrested yesterday and charged with third-degree rape, a charge that involves having intercourse with a person under the age of 17, and patronizing a prostitute.

Allegedly he paid $300 for the teen’s services. The investigation began when the girl’s uncle called cops after receiving  a text from her saying she was being driven home by a pimp.The police report says this pimp beat the young girl just before taking her, against her will, to Lawrence’s hotel room where LT sexually assaulted her.

LT completely denies the charges and plead not guilty at his arraignment. His wife (3rd wife, that is) says the allegations are “bullshit”. NutriSystem doesn’t seem to think it’s bullshit, they have dropped the 10-time probowler from their television ads.

ABC’s The View is supposed to be all about expressing opinions on hot topics, be it politics or pop culture. Opinions are like, well you know, everyone has one. Today The View’s Elizabeth Hasselbeck apologizes for hers.

Last year, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was in the spotlight, but not for her dancing. A stalker filmed a naked Andrews through a hotel room peephole. Hasselbeck’s comments that sparked an uproar went something like this: the man, since convicted, would have seen “a little bit less — without the prison time” just by watching “Dancing With The Stars” this season. Most obviously referring to the skimpy costumes Andrews parades around the dance floor in each week.

She most definitely has a point…just maybe it is a point that should left unspoken.

On Wednesday’s episode, Hasselbeck said Fighting back tears, Hasselbeck explains that her 5-year-old suggested she call Erin and apologize for her remarks. She did and then publicly apologized on Wednesday’s show.
