Has anyone else noticed the flood of commercials promoting the Gulf Coast as a vacation destination? Right. Like anyone in their right mind is gonna flock to a beach that is contaminated with oil.
Mississippi and Florida have begun “Yes, We’re Open” campaigns, in spite of the oil that is looming on their shores. It is estimated that tourists to the Gulf leave behind $60 billion in revenue each Summer. Even if the leaking well is plugged, the clean up could take months, even years.
The oil spill has obviously threatened the livelihood of many residents in the Gulf, and though a valiant effort, these ads are probably a waste of the taxpayer’s dollar.

Two of NASCAR’s hottest gals, (okay maybe two of Nascar’s only gals) have ties to cbslimited.com! North Carolina native, Monica Palumbo (far left) and South Carolina sweetheart, Paige Duke (far right) are two of NASCAR’s three Sprint Girls. They are charged with the smiles in Victory Lane following each checkered flag.
NASCAR has become one of the most popular sports in the country and these girls are sort of like the cheerleaders…sort of . In the 1970’s, they were Winston Girls and wore bikinis in Victory Lane. Their duties included kissing the sweaty cheek of the winner, smiling and looking oh-so-beautiful. They were trophy girls, a reference Monica Palumbo says is offensive.
“Absolutely offensive,” said Palumbo, a Miss Sprint Cup figure since Sprint became NASCAR’s title sponsor in 2008. “We’ve worked really hard to change the program and change our name, change the perceptions.”
The new Sprint girl wears a racing suit, like the drivers, and is also a huge part of the marketing of NASCAR. Along with advertising, these gals tweet about their driver interviews and post race riff-raff on Facebook, a far cry from the days of the Winston chicks.
But before Monica Palumbo was a Sprint Girl, she was a member of the CB’s Winners Circle. CB Mathis helped to lead Monica to the crown in 2001, when she became Miss North Carolina. He assisted her with her wardrobe as well as training for stage and interview. She went on to place 15th in the Miss USA pageant later that year.
One of the newest additions to the Sprint Girl roster is Paige Duke. Paige has been a pageant and prom customer of CB’s Limited in Lancaster, SC for years and was even employed there through high school. We are proud to say that Paige is a CB’s Girl!

Two smokin’ hot celebs…one cool coral frock. Tyra Banks walked the red carpet in this Rachel Roy dress at the Daytime Emmy Awards back in September. Kim Kardashian donned the same one-shouldered gown at a cosmetic industry luncheon.

Tony Dovolani, partner to the infamous Kate Gosslin on Season 10 of Dancing With the Stars, recently took a modeling gig with gown designer Sherri Hill. In March, the dancing Dovolani participated in a photo shoot with some of America’s most beautiful beauty queens.
Nicole Johnson-Miss California USA 2010, Audrey Moore-Miss Alabama USA 2010, Morgan Woolard-Miss Oklahoma USA 2010, and Alyssa Campanella-Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2008 joined Tony in advertising shots. Many of which were dancing poses.
ABC must not be paying too well these days…or maybe Tony loves the spotlight. Either way, the photos made for awesome ad shots! They are coming soon to cbslimited.com!

The season finale of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars ended exactly the way we all imagined it would, with Nicole and Derek kissing the mirror ball trophy. It was no surprise that Evan Lysaceck took the second spot and Erin Andrews fell short of the final two all together.
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and her pro, Derek Hough, were extremely deserving of the honor though. All season, the pair have been the front-runners and the finale on Monday night sealed the deal. Nicole and Derek performed an awesome freestyle routine with a mixture of dance styles included. No one even remembers that there was a flop at the end…the lift didn’t quite take off.
Freestyle routines (the most anticipated portion of the finale for me) from the other contenders were not as exciting. Erin and Maks bounced around on a bed and called it contemporary dancing, while Evan made a mess of a classic tune, Footloose. Judge Bruno Tonioli described it as “screw loose.”
I must say, finale disasters aside…this season 10 of DWTS has been the best so far. Can’t wait to see what the fall season has in store.

Tennis Pro Venus Williams showed up to the French Open in a black lace outfit, trimmed in red. She easily chalked up a victory, beating Patty Schnyder with consecutive 6-3 wins. It is the outfit that takes precedence, not the tennis playing.

Fergie is in trouble with Buckingham Palace. No, not that Fergie…the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson. Fergie has always been a firecracker in the dullness that is the Royal Family of England, but this time she has ignited an explosion.
The News of the World, a British tabloid infamous for sting operations, reported that Fergie has sold her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. The price for Britain’s special representative for trade and investment? A half-million pounds ($724,000), with a $40,000 down payment.
The story went global on Sunday and has the Palace up in arms over Fergie’s latest debacle. She isn’t without reason, however, Fergie is in financial trouble and is in desperate need for the dough. And what better way to get it than to sell a Prince! She reportedly only receives $20,000 annually in spousal support from the Prince.
$20,000? I’d sell him too.
Fergie has since issued a statement apologizing for causing embarrassment and a “serious lapse in judgment” and she also said Andrew “was not aware or involved in any of the discussions that occurred.”
I bet not…typically the goods aren’t involved in the discussion of a sale.

Last night, history was made on the Miss USA stage. Miss Michigan Rima Fakih became the first Arab-American to be crowned Miss USA 2010.
She was gorgeous and absolutely flawless in every way, until the evening gown portion that is. Rima stumbled on stage as she got caught in the train of her gown. Nevertheless, judges saw past the mistake and crowned her Miss USA 2010!

Just weeks after a brain hemorrhage nearly put the Poison rocker on his death bed, Bret Michaels is scheduling gigs and returning to Celebrity Apprentice. He was released from the hospital two weeks ago, and it is nothing short of a miracle.
Doctors thought Michaels would never recover and here he is planning to return to live performances on May 28th. One of those performances is alongside Leonard Skynard in Florida on June 10th. When the hemorrhage occurred, Michaels was filming Celebrity Apprentice. He is expected to appear on the show’s finale May 23rd.
It is wonderful news that Bret Michaels has been given a second chance, a new breath of life. We can only hope that he will use that chance for something better than a bus filled with skanks, vying for his Rock of Love.

The entire nation is in an uproar over a dance competition video showcasing one troop’s provocative version of Beyonce’s Put A Ring On It. Five 7-year-old girls took the stage at a World Of Dance competition and the crowd went wild! A video of the dance made its way to YouTube and America went wild too.
But most of the commotion is negative. A lot of people are viewing the performance as child pornography and are questioning the motives of the parents involved. Some of those parents took to the camera this morning on Good Morning America to defend themselves and their daughters. They explained that this was performed at a dance competition, not just a video made for the world to view. One choreographer for the dance has even admitted that the costume choice should have been re-thought.
I have to agree, the costumes could have offered a bit more modesty…but this is a dance competition people! These little girls are clearly having fun and probably aren’t gonna make any attempts to seduce your little boy on the playground once this is all over. Beyonce’s song (and video) are uber-popular and have been mimicked over and over. The intention was not sexual, it is what you make of it. If you haven’t viewed the video already, check it out and let me know what you think!
