Cross-dressing Contenders

Gentlemen, start your engines. RuPaul, the ultimate drag queen is now the host of his/her own Drag Race. The 48-year-old portrays two personalities on the Logo reality series, which premiered in early February. RuPaul, in full glamazon drag, will reign supreme in all judging and eliminations, while the debonair Mr. RuPaul will help guide contestants as they prepare for each challenge.
“Listen, the whole world loves drag, whether they admit it or not,” he says. “We live in this culture where we have this hypocritical thing. On one hand, people are ashamed of drag and they think it is misogynistic; on the other hand, we all love it because it’s sparkly, it’s shiny and it’s gorgeous.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race, dubbed as the ultimate in drag queen competitions will bring together the top 9 drag queens in the U.S. to vie for drag stardom. Contestants include the nation’s hottest and most glamorous drag queens, including one voted in by viewers online. Joining RuPaul on the judges panel, are fashion journalist and best-selling author Merle Ginsberg and Project Runway breakout star and designer Santino Rice.
