Dress codes for Prom?

I’m unsure as to how I feel about a dress code for a prom…I had a girl in the store recently who wouldn’t try on gowns with a low back. She said that her school would not allow them. After several back and forth questions, I was left with a bad feeling. She attends a very large PUBLIC school. She went on to tell me that their gowns had to be approved before they were purchased. Now I am definitely NOT OK with that. A few years back I did feel like gowns were getting away from what they were meant to be. Vendors were making two piece gowns that kept getting skimpier and skimpier! Girls were looking like belly dancers instead of prom divas. So here I sit teetering both ways. I certainly think it is well within a school’s right to establish a dress code. It is a school event. However, having to have your gown “approved” is ridiculous. This is just showing teenagers that adults do not feel they can follow rules or be trusted. Set guidelines and make sure they are well publicized.

Sorry, but I think schools need a Dress Code Policy for School Proms. I think the back, chest and midriff needs to be covered by a female student to an acceptable standard.

Here in the picture below, we have two girls – which girl would you call beautiful and elegant?

Clearly this girl has no respect. I feel bad for the parents to raised her to think it’s okay to wear that. Not all “youths today” have a “serious lack of discipline” and “self-respect.” Unless you know every single one of us, (WHICH YOU DON’T) you have no right to make such a generalization on young adults. Most of us go to college and are generally GOOD KIDS. Bottom line, this girl is trashy, raised terribly. Anyone who acts like such a child in dire need of attention shouldn’t be in high school anyway!

Everyone on here that thinks that the dress is approriate has a serious problem. So, if it is okay for her to wear that dress then it is okay for all of the young guys to treat her like a stripper or slut. When you dress like that you are looking for that type of response from young horny boys. The sad part is that the mom and dad allowed her to walk out of the house with that dress on. What happen to Proms being a formal event with a formal attire like beautiful evening growns. Absolutely sad on the parents part. Kids will only go as far as you let them, so mom and dad you just probably stop your child from getting a high level coporate job. Why, because know companies search the internet for things like this before they hire you. Why would a company want to hire a hoochie. Sad, day for the parents.

As a parent I would have put my foot on her throat and beat the hell out of her for even THINKING about wearing something like that. This is the problem with our youths today. They have a serious lack of discipline, self-respect, and care in the world. This is a school prom. Why would anyone think that dress was appropriate for that occasion. She is a young girl showing way too much skin. Her parents should not have let her leave the house looking like a tramp. She should learn to love and respect herself instead of trying to get some boys attention. And these people wonder why they get no respect.
