Mamma M.I.A. in high demand
Less than a week ago, Maya Arulpragasam (MIA) gave birth to a baby boy after pre-labor contractions followed her on-stage performance at the Grammy Awards. A very pregnant MIA belted out her hit, Paper Planes for a live audience. Oscar organizers were so taken by her routine, they are desperate to have her sing at this week’s award show. Guess they liked her bumble-bee-esque showing at the Grammys.

The rapper is slated to perform her Oscar-nominated song from Slumdog Millionaire. She reportedly wants to fulfill her commitment and is open to some of the ideas derived to help her overcome the physical limitations associated with giving birth such a short time ago. One of which includes her in a bed, on stage! Other options include a hologram of the rapper.
“She’s eager to perform … we’ve said things like ‘we’re willing to have her enter on a large bed,’” Oscars producer Laurence Mark is reported to have told the WENN network. “We’ll make it as easy for her as we can.”
MIA is nominated in the best original song category for her collaboration with AR Rahman on O Saya, a song featured on the soundtrack for the also Oscar-nominated film, Slumdog Millionaire. I hope she finds a way to balance mommydom and the Oscars, but I hope this time, her stylist is not inebriated when choosing her costume.
