The collaborative performance of Justin Beiber, Jayden Smith and Usher was nothing but brilliant…fun to watch and so reminiscent of Michael Jackson. Usher has made no bones about the fact that his musical prowess is derived from the prince of pop and last night’s performance certainly attested to that.
The set began with a throw-back to 2007, a video of Beiber singing for Usher for the very first time. Then young Beiber plays solo on the guitar, singing his hit “Baby”, which leads into the intense dance-a-thon between himself and Jayden Smith. The two busted moves to Beiber’s latest hit, “Never Say Never”, while proud parents Will and Jada sing, dance and cheer in their seats. Finally comes the entrance of Usher, who delivers an exhilarating performance to his hit, “O.M.G.”
The shocker for me came about half-way through Usher’s performance, when he either slung his sunglasses (on purpose) or lost them (accidentally). Usher never performs without those sunglasses, he even delivered a eulogy at Michael Jackson’s memorial service wearing sunglasses. Even Beiber performs with Usher wearing sunglasses…but the superstar’s shades remain absent. I am gonna call it a wardrobe malfunction.

It’s a sad day for teens and alcoholics alike. The South Carolina House of Representatives is one vote away from banning alcohol-laced energy drinks like Joose and Four Loko (often referred to as blackout in a can).
On Wednesday, the House voted 102-13 to outlaw such drinks and only a final routine vote is required before the bill heads to the Senate.
Republican state Rep. Thad Viers of Myrtle Beach said, “the beverages are dangerous because people are more likely get drunk but feel sober enough to drive while using them.”
South Carolina joins a short list of states that lead the uprising against the sale of these beverages. Washington, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and most recently, New York have all banned the sale of Four Loko and similar products. So where is the federal government on this matter? The Obama administration remains silent, forcing states to take action. Which, I guess is good news for Four Loko fans, the upper and downer, all in one can, is just a state line away.

An article appeared in People Magazine recently that focused on the princess-to-be, Kate Middleton. The article is titled, Kate Middleton Recycles From Her Own Closet. Read it and share in my dismay…
Whether it’s for her own official engagement pictures or just another social event in her busy schedule, Kate Middleton doesn’t have to look far when it comes to finding the perfect outfit–she simply recycles something from her oh-so-chic closet, adds some new accessories and voila…a new princess-to-be look is born. It’s a very royal trend (Princess Diana was known to mix and match old and new pieces and Princess Anne is quite famous for her frugal approach to fashion), so it’s entirely fitting that Middleton, who will marry into the British royal family in just a few months, should adopt the recession-friendly trend herself. And we have to say, the 29-year-old does it very well. Accompanying her fiancé, Prince William, to a friend’s wedding in the UK on Saturday, she recycled one of her much-loved ISSA black dresses (from the label’s Spring/Summer 2007 collection no less), which she had previously worn to Prince William’s cousin, Peter Phillips’ wedding in 2008. Worn underneath a current season velvet dress coat from independent London label Libélula, the outfit was topped off with a structural feathered beret and a glowing smile. A smart choice, in more ways than one. –Monique Jessen
Did you get that? Celebrities and royalty are not suppose to wear the same piece of clothing twice. People calls it “recycling”, the same thing you and I do regularly…pairing a tank with a blazer and then wearing that same tank a week later under a sweater. The article “calls her out”, so to speak, for wearing a particular ISSA black dress to two different weddings. Oh, for shame!
People goes on to say that past princesses have committed similar crimes. Princess Diana was known for mixing and matching old and new pieces (It’s called a wardrobe…right?) while Princess Anne is apparently famous for her frugal approach to fashion (She repeated an outfit three or four times no doubt).
Although the article praises Middleton for her smarts during a time of recession, I find it ridiculous to even view this “frugal behavior” as extraordinary. I am sure that there are multi-millionaires that may never have to wear the same outfit more than once, and I envy them, really. But what sense does it make to fall in love with a piece of clothing in a store or on the runway and then buy it, only to wear it once?
I guess if recycling is not a typical practice among the rich and famous then I relish the fact that I have something in common with the stunning princess bride-to-be, we recycle!

Gwyneth Paltrow has been belting out tunes on the big screen and the small.
Paltrow makes a guest appearance on the hit TV show, Glee, where she plays a substitute teacher and sings in one of the group’s numbers. On a bigger stage, she sings some country tunes for her new movie with Tim McGraw, Country Strong. Gwyneth also packs on ten extra pounds for the movie! She attributes it to Tim’s mashed potatoes, she claims they are the best!
This isn’t the first time the actress has flexed her vocal talents onscreen. In 2000’s ‘Duets,’ directed by her late father Bruce Paltrow, she played a woman who tries her hand at karaoke, winning over the audience with her version of “Bette Davis Eyes.”

October 1st was a bad hair day, of sorts, for Jack Szablewski. The New Jersey 4-year-old was banned from Pre-kindergarten for having long hair.
When Jack was 16 months old, his grandfather died of lung cancer. His mother, Renee Szablewski, made the decision to grow Jack’s hair and donate it to cancer patients, in honor of her late father.
Jack began pre-K classes at St. Dominic, a parochial school in Brick, N.J. Renee says the school was aware of the hair-growing project and they were on board, as long as Jack’s hair was cut by the time he entered Kindergarten (September 2011). Which is why she was surprised when the school updated its handbook to include pre-K students in the policy mandating that boys keep their hair short and neat. School officials gave Renee until October 1st to bring Jack’s hair into compliance.
Surprised as she was, Renee was all set to comply. On September 30th, she scheduled the haircut at a salon in Hoboken, N.J. and even invited a television crew to film the event. Unfortunately, a storm rolled into the East Coast and those plans were stalled.
Jack showed up to school the next day, October 1st, hair still un-cut. The teachers wouldn’t even let him through the doors.
“This child has done nothing wrong,” a school supervisor said in a statement. “This matter is between the parent and the school, and the partnership between the two entities that is critical to a healthy and successful educational experience at St. Dominic School.”
Jack is still not enrolled in school and his mother fears he won’t be accepted to any catholic school in their area, even once the hair is cut. She maintains that this is all about the donation of Jack’s hair, not defiance of the catholic church.

In her latest music video, Disney’s little lucrative princess sheds her innocence and puts on a new skin…and not much else. Who Owns My Heart has internet bloggers all abuzz over the lack of talent and the lack of clothing.
In the video, Miley is scantily clad, rolling around on a bed, bumping and grinding in a smokey club and reclining in the back of a limo. This is her attempt to break free from Hannah Montana, a coming of age for her. Problem is, this sexually charged video paired with pointless lyrics, is an open invitation for criticism. Sure, there are tons of videos that make it to MTV that are far worse than Miley’s kiddie porn, but those artists didn’t get their start as pre-teen role models.
This is just another kink in a long chain of bad decisions for Miley Cyrus. First it was the tasteless Vanity Fair photo shoot, which featured a 15-year-old Miley in nothing more than a satin bed sheet. Then, several racy candid shots show up on the internet. Where is her agent? A publicist? Hell, where are her parents?

October is Bullying Prevention month. To raise awareness, stars are stepping up to confess their high school tales of horror. Bullying affects nearly 77% of children, even superstars like Eva Mendes, Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba.
“People would throw toilet paper at my house or throw eggs at my door,” Jessica Simpson reveals.
Jessica Alba told the U.K.’s Daily Mirror, “I was bullied so badly my dad used to have to walk me into school so I didn’t get attacked.”
Eva Mendes says she put an end to bullying in her life. “When I finally stood up to my bully, that’s when things changed for me,” she told PEOPLE Magazine.
All three of these vixens have left their former bullies kicking themselves for ever kicking them.
