The hottest prom hairstyles for 2008 center on sexy starlets from the past. Today’s tinsel town topliners have been influenced by the hair, attire and accessories of old. Now, you too can steal the style of big screen sirens for prom night!
In the 1920’s, Josephine Baker lit up stages with her legendary voice and unmistakable style. Shiny waves and controlled curls compose her sensual, sleek look. Halle Berry and Kate Bosworth are among those who have been inspired by Josephine’s glamorous guise.
Hair in the 1940’s brought brushed waves like those of big-screen vixen Veronica Lake. Veronica’s loose curls and lavish volume gave smooth and sultry a brand new face. Stars like Jessica Alba and Jessica Simpson have adapted the look and made it all their own.
With the 1960’s came a flood of blonde bombshells like French movie star Brigitte Bardot. Her elastic, loose ringlets were playful and inviting. Silver screen superstar Angelina Jolie’s latest look reflects Brigitte’s vintage vibe.
The 1980’s were lead by teased roots and plenty of volume. No one did it better than fashion icon Cindy Crawford. On the runway, the big-hair era came alive. Cindy’s soft, wispy locks captivated the world of fashion and her signature style soon became commonplace. The look can be found on red carpets around the world, and on singer/actress Beyonce Knowles.
So, This is your inspiration… Prom 2008 style is a throw-back to the divas from way back.

It was a busy Halloween in LA and New York. All our favorite pop tarts (and pop wrecks) were out in their best, well thought out, totally original costumes. Lets start with everyone’s favorite creepy eyed socialite, Paris.

Paris was sporting some seriously scary contact lenses. Not sure why as they don’t really go with her outfits; Sailor, Alice in Wonderland, Jailbird, and Army. All four versions were seen in and around the Hollywood area this week.

For those who were looking for some “crazy,” Britney was sneaking into places in some sort of costume (if you have never seen Brit in a “hi-resolution photo,” consider yourself warned before clicking the link).
Rounding out this years not-so-spookiness, Haylie Duff, Petra Nemcova, Eve, and Heidi Klum.

Kudos to Klum on putting some thought into her costume and not just pulling something out of the closet… Like Kate Beckinsale did (below)!

Ok so, imagine you are a model. You are in the back changing into your next runway outfit, and pay no attention to the strange martial arts demonstration going on outside. You would HOPE that someone would come tell all the models that the martial arts guys put a giant hole in the stage, and to be careful not to fall through. Because surely, someone would come backstage and say “hey ladies, there is a big hole in the stage, don’t walk in it!” When that doesn’t happen, this does:

Well, after Esquire magazine branded Charlize Theron the sexiest woman alive, there was no doubt Maxim magazine would have to label someone just the opposite. The lucky person to receive the “Unsexiest woman” award is none other than “Sex in the City” star, Sarah Jessica Parker, 42. While we wouldn’t go so far as to call her the unsexiest, I guess the public thinks otherwise. We could think of far better candidates for that award. Rounding out the top five on the list: (2) Amy Winehouse, (3) Sandra Oh, (4) Madonna, and (5) the always classy Britney Spears. You can read the rest of the article on Maxim’s website.

At 32 years of age, Charlize is definitely looking good. After having achieved such awards as an Oscar, Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild award, Esquire has voted her the sexiest woman alive for 2007. You can read the in depth interview with some great pictures of her here.

This dress is from a designer named Manish Arora. Much like his website, this dress is very confusing. Neon lime, purple, pink, blue and orange should not even be next to each other in a box of crayons. I had a nightmare once that I left my neon crayons outside in the sun all day. The result was a mixture not unlike what you are seeing here. From the Spring/Summer 2008 “Ready to Wear” collection by Manish, most of the entire line unveiled at Paris Fashion Week looks just like this one. If you happen to like faces on your dresses, this one is for you! Otherwise, try to block this picture out of your long term memory.

Why would Paris go on the David Letterman show and not expect Letterman to grill her about her recent stint in the big house. After coming on the show, Letterman proceeds to get a few “digs” in about her recent time in jail. She responds with a visual feeling of discomfort, only to tear up after a few repeated questions by Dave. I seem to recall her saying that this made her “stronger”. She should have never agreed to come on the show knowing that the “jail” subject would definitely be touched on by Letterman. You can see the video here:

2008 prom dresses in September? Believe it or not, they are here! Traditionally, the manufacturers do not release their images until December. But this year, CB’s has been contacted by half of our vendors asking to get the new styles up as soon as the pictures come in. 2008 Jovani dresses are posted along with 2008 Joli Prom. BOTH lines are super hot!
Jovani is pushing the boundaries of fashion once again while pushing parents into the poor house. But for nine-hundred dollars, you will definitely be a hit at the prom.
Joli is back with one of their best lines ever. 2008 brings a mix of sexy dresses and ball gowns in the best selling bright colors that Joli is known for.
We are in the process of adding Cire and Beyond. La Femme, Sean Collection, Paris and Tony Bowls will all be up within a couple weeks. Sherri Hill dresses will be coming to the site late in the season as well as several new vendors which will be announced in the upcoming months!
