retail store (including ours) has a NO refund/return/exchange/cancellation policy for a couple of reasons...
Since your dress is specially ordered in the size and color that you choose, we cannot return them to the manufacturers.
Formal gowns are a Special Occasion item (meaning you will only wear it a few times) and some people would want to wear the dress once and return it.
You are measuring and choosing your own size. Because we have no control over whether you are selecting the correct size, no refunds/returns/exchanges will be accepted for ordering the incorrect size.
PLEASE MEASURE carefully. Size charts are located on the gallery and detail pages of every item on our site. If you have any questions regarding size, feel free to call us toll free at 877-4-MY-PROM.
This is our policy in both our retail store (our physical location since 1969) and our online store.
This is the same policy of most retail stores online that special orders gowns. If any other gown retailer online tells you differently, we advise that you read the fine print regarding “SPECIAL ORDERS.” We watch our online competition closely and feel some are misleading in their return policy. Our policy is clear because we value our customers and want you to know everything before you buy.
Inspection: When we receive your dress from the manufacturer, we inspect the dress to be sure it is exactly as ordered and free from defects. If defects are found, we will contact the manufacturer for a replacement. BEFORE it gets to you!
If a manufacturers defect makes it past our inspection processes, it can be returned for REPLACEMENT only. If the gown is somehow damaged during shipment, we will get you a replacement shipped with expedited shipping at our expense. If your item is damaged, please call 877-4-MY-PROM within 24 hours of receiving the item for a RETURN AUTHORIZATION Number. No items will be accepted by our returns department without a return authorization number.
We will not know unless you place an order. Availability changes by the minute... a CB's Limited employee has to check inventory at several warehouses, with the manufacturer, calculate shipping times, your wear date and other factors to make sure your item(s) gets to you on time. If your item(s) is available, we need to place the order at that time to make sure your package arrives by your wear date. Although we pride ourselves on having swift responses over the website, even a few minutes can make a difference in getting your dress by your wear date (especially during prom season Jan-Jun). Go ahead and place an order for the dress you want. If it is not available, your credit card will not be charged.
Due to the fluid nature of this business, we can not check availability by email.
What happens if my item is not available?
Dresses: Our system will notify you via email that your item is not available, and if there may be a size up, size down, or other colors available in the style you selected. At this point your order is considered "Not Available" and your credit card has never been charged. If you would like to check on other styles, simply message us through your OrderCheck page!
Other Items: Our system will notify you via email and your order will be cancelled. Your credit card was never charged.
Currently, ALL the pictures that are available are displayed on our site. They are taken directly out of the catalog just like you would look at in your local store.
Size charts and instructions with a figure are located at the bottom of any gallery or detail page. Just scroll down below the pictures and you will see the size chart for that vendor.

- Formal gowns fit smaller than regular clothes. At least one size smaller. To get the best fit--MEASURE CAREFULLY and USE THE SIZE CHARTS. YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE UP A GOWN THAT IS A LITTLE LARGE, BUT YOU CAN'T LET SOMETHING OUT THAT IS TOO SMALL. The gowns are long enough to fit girls 5'8".
- Measure CAREFULLY and match your dimensions to the size charts located at the bottom of each vendors gallery page (NOTE: EACH VENDOR HAS A DIFFERENT SIZE CHART). IF YOU NEED HELP with measuring or sizing, PLEASE CALL or EMAIL US. We are not an expensive retail chain where it is impossible to get good customer service. If you need our help, it would be our pleasure to help you! We want our customers 100% satisfied, and we wouldnt still be in business after 35 years if we werent able to provide excellent customer service. All emails will be answered WITHIN 2 hours during normal operating hours. Phone questions are answered immediately.
-Remember, 99% of our customers need some type of alterations. Any local seamstress should be able to do it for you. All gowns can be hemmed (even beaded gowns). All gowns can be taken in at the side seams or the seam at the back. Often gowns must be taken in at the straps to fit properly, especially for those that are short waisted If you or your seamstress has any questions regarding alterations, please call or email us, and we will gladly help.

Occasionally, to get your dress to you in time, we will need to expidite shipping. If this is the case, we will inform you BEFORE processing your order and charging your card.
Tracking numbers will be sent to your email when the items are shipped from our store.

If you find a lower price on any dress we carry online, we will beat it + 2%. If you have already purchased a dress, and found a lower price in the next 5 days, we will refund the difference plus 2% to your credit card or paypal account. Advertised shipping charges on other sites will apply.

Why have you not responded to my email?

Can you send me a catalog?
In short, no. We are a retailer and do not make these dresses. If we put out our own catalog, it would raise our prices... and our goal is to give you the best product at the best price. The pictures on our website are ALL the pictures available that are provided by the manufacturer.
Why are your dresses so inexpensive?
Because we have the ability to offer these dresses online, our overhead is low. These are the same dresses you find in your local stores coming directly from the manufacturer.
Do you have a store near me?
Our retail store (physical location) is located in downtown Lancaster, SC (just outside of Charlotte, NC). The dresses we sell are carried by many other retailers across the US, but we are not affiliated with any of them.
Can you make a dress in a color that is not listed?
No, we are a retailer, not the manufacturer. The only colors available are the ones listed.
How do I place an Order ?
Simply click the "Add To Cart" link while browsing through the gallery. A new window will open and ask you to select a color and your size. There is a sizechart and measuring information at the bottom of that window. When you've made your selection, click the "Add To Cart" button, and your dress will be added to your cart. When you are ready to checkout, just click the "View Cart" link on the right hand side of any page on the site.
What happens after I place an order?
Within the next couple of business hours, we will check and see if we can get your size and color by your Wear Date
One of the things CB's does really well is estimate transit times. Our entire online system is custom built specifically for this industry. We check several places including the manufacturer, shipments in progress, stock at the factory as well as local and remote warehouses for your items.
Although our online system is completly automated, most of our vendors do not yet have "real time" data. This is why there can sometimes be delays up to a couple hours in processing your order while we locate your item(s).
If your dress is available, we will send you an email with an expected ship date.

When your dress arrives at our distribution center, we inspect it for any type of manufacturers defects, and ship it to you! Our system will then send you an email with a FedEx tracking number where you can check the progress online.
When is my credit card charged?
Your card will be charged after we contact the manufacturer and see if the dress if available.
How do I check the status of my order?
Exclusive to CB's Limited is the ever evolving OrderCheck™ system. OrderCheck™ gives you up to date information on what is going on with your order. You see the same notes we do, and there is a form to send us messages about your order! You can get to the OrderCheck™ by clicking the link in the top right hand corner of any page.
Please be TRUTHFUL about your wear date!
You will know when your gown will ship within a couple business hours. Some of the more popular styles may have to be backordered from the vendor. If this is the case, we will determine the fastest way to get your dress and fill the order by your "Wear Date" (the date of the event that you are attending). We will NOT bill your credit card until we make sure we will have it to you AT LEAST 1 week prior to your provided wear date. If the "ship date" is CLOSER than 2 weeks, you will be contacted with upgraded shipping options and estimated delivery dates. You can then chose whether or not to continue with the the order.
